Some date that comes only once in 100 years and it really is great that the Olympics started at this special date at 8pm.... of course!
So Beijing Olympics started on 8 Aug 2008 with a great bang. The countdown was just the best. I must say it was really a great chance for the Chinese people to show the world what they are made of and they didn't fail. It was just spectacular!
With drums, dance, fireworks, pyrotechnics, great choreography, people, music, etc. The combination was just great. It was spark after spark. Never a dull moment. I can comment a lot on this but hey, you should watch in on youtube or something. It really worth the time. But ofcouse the part where the athletes walk into the Bird's Nest Stadium, like every other sport event, it is one of the longest and boring segment.
The lighting of the torch was really something else... It has always been the climax of the whole Opening Ceremony. But I must say, I was a little disappointed as I was hoping that the papers had speculated that a Phoenix or a Dragon would end up in the stadium to light the Olympic Flame...
But anyway, I really like the globe thingy where the people were walking around it. It looked really cool!
Unlike the other Olympics where I would be introduced to something like western music which isnt much foreign nor special, the Beijing had a really strong Chinese flavour to it, but it wasnt foreign nor unfamiliar to me. Being a Chinese myself, the music the ethnicity of it felt just so close and familiar. Bringing you back into history of the every rich culture of the Dynasties of China, it really is educational and full of culture...
I really don't want to say much but
KUDOS to all those who were involved.
Prior to the Olympics, I was talking to a friend of mine,
Josiah Ng, who if you didnt know is the track cyclist for Malaysia and had a wonderful debut in Athens 4 years ago. Coming in 5th in the Keirin event and since then on has been a figure in Malaysian Sports and not to mention around the world. With very good achievements, he will be gunning for glory trying his best to clinch a gold. And if he does so, he will be the first Malaysian to do so. So i really wish him all the best.
Anyway, prior to Beijing, I had told Josiah to dye his black hair with blond strips just like his vest, and he said he will consider, but I still havent seen it. I guess it was too late when I suggested that idea.
Josiah has always done something to his hair in major tournaments and I really hope he took my opinion this time... hahaha, it would be awesome...

Anyway, good luck to the Malaysian Contingent. Malaysia Boleh. And all the best to all of my favourite sports figure
