The Teen DJ ChampFrom the words of Mark Felix
"The winner would have the X-factor"
It started out weeks back, or maybe I've been preparing for this as long as I can remember... neh, its not that long...
Anyway this year at the KDU DJ Talent Search Grand Finals, we had 8 finalist including me... And the stakes were high this year. I wanted to win badly.
The Champ's TrophyThe day started around 9 when I arrived at KDU, pumped up to win this thing. This year's competition like every others must have sponsors. And this year they were Switch that was the distributor for Apple CG computers! You know what that means. Apple stuff up for grabs, like Ipods, Checkerplate Bags.....
having the gitters and the shivers as the competition drew closer. There was a weird atmosphere in the air. And not to mention it was also the Open Day for KDU Penang and also many classes were having their exams. So there we were, providing free entertainment for all those lucky brats... HAHAHA
Judging for this year is the Head of USM's Mass Communication Department and the DJ for Zouk and Future, a famous turntablist and DJ, none other than DJ Janrius. It was honour to meet them both and to evaluated by them...
The competition was kicked start by some important VIPs, but I wasnt really bother to listen to their long speeches as I was trying to get in the zone. I was silly trying to get into my usual happy form at 10 something when I was actually schedualed for 3 in the afternoon. And darn, it nearly costed me, I had a close call for sore throat, luckly Ivan had some Hacks with him. really a life saviour! HAHAHA
With 2 contestants, we went on to a break time and saw a showcase by DJ Janrius, explaining to everyone in the audience about his field. It was just awsome watching him work his stuff, doing the turntables like a pro. ofcourse it started a little boring with all that talking and presentation and a very short demo.

One of the cool turn tables
The wonderFULL awesome Scratch LiveAfter that the competition went on. And we saw people doing really well and not that well. I really do not want to comment too much on what the others did, because they were of great rivalry...
Anyway, when it was my turn, we had to push up as we were going rather fast, so my supporters(my friends) werent able to make it in time for the new time I was given. Sigh, so looking forward. Anyway, being the second last, it wasnt easy when you seen the rest all relaxing after giving their best on the console and presenting. I had the lay man's term, Butterflies in my stomach when walking up. I had to exterminate them. Murder them!
Ready for my showAfter checking that everything was ok with Andrea Chuang, my mentor. The signpost rolls. And the game is on. Seumas slowly transform into DJ Seumas, not much difference here, but in action, it is so much more....
Anyway, I kinda screw up a lil on my part at the beginning of the script but luckily with good add-liping, I was able to just stroll by it without much hesitation. Lucky for that.Oh yea, I was doing a special on that night's MTV Asia Awards. "Handing Away" 2 tickets to the award... The rest of the show went on as plan, though I must say, I really wanted to put Pussycat Doll's When I Grow Up because they were the opening act, but due to some legal issues, I wasnt able to play it. The song just would play well. So the first music to kick start my show was Stop and Stare by one of the winners that very same night - One Republic.
It was smooth sailing onwards, there was no tongue twist, no finger jammed, no fading problem, no technicals, no bla bla bla... It was just close flawless.... i was really happy.
Can't smile properly at the turn tableAnd thanks to Mark, we had to pause for the results as DJ Janrius takes the Stage again with his hot clubbing numbers. It wazs like hitting the night club in broad day light and the best thing, it was FREE. Some of us, like me went mild wild dancing to the song. And I must say, Jessica Tan was the best of all, being very supportive, especially when Low by Flo-Rida hit the air waves. The club mix just made me dance the stress away. I really had a good time
Rocking away with Jessica to DJ Janrius
Part of the mentors and manteesSoon it was judgement, slowly we climbed from the bottom. With the 2nd runner up going to Richard and my biggest threat, Zoe who claimed the 1st runner up. And to the ever big surprise, I came tops! YAY! Being humble - hahahaha
Got up the stage, trying to pull Andrea to receive the prizes alongside me. It was of top honour to be known as the Champ for the DJ Talent Search. It was great going home with a new IPOD! A Casing for the Ipod. A Checkerplate designer bag. And that microphone trophy!
Lets just say it was just my day. I even got some great stuff from DJ Janrius! Weeeeeee. After many many many photo ops, I was pulled from the crowd by a reporter to do a simple interview...
And on Thursday (7.8.08) the article on my win came out on The Star.... WEEEEEE

Spot my name??I would like to take this opportunity thank all that have supported me. My family and friends. My mentors and schoolmates. anyone anyone... hahaha
The whole motley crewTHANK YOU
