So I came back from Australia and stayed home for a few days, attended to my cousin Kimmy, who came and stayed with me and my family for a few days, it was worth the stay and it really filled my time before I set off to Hong Kong on Christmas Eve.
As some of you know, my Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is always somewhat spectacular. But this is the first year I didnt have my Christmas at home. This year all the cousins, most of the families decided to take the Chrissies out of the states. So off went some to Australia and some went off to Taiwan and Singapore and even Europe and so on. Mine fell right into the heart of Hong Kong.
Upon arrival, I heard from some people that Hong Kong is a fun place to be. And we went on tour, so the tour group would be brought to nice places. I was anticipating for it. But then, when it was near midnight of Christmas Eve, the time where I would stop from my Annual Christmas Buffet Dinner munching and gather with the rest of the family members and anticipate the arrival of Christmas with countdowns and cheers and screams and the joy of unwrapping presents.
But in Hong Kong, as we walk down the crowded high street I didnt really feel the spirit of Christmas. You seldom listen to the Christmas songs coming from stores, not much people wore Santa Hat, I did wear mine. The most "Chistmas-sy" thing you will see is those Christian Churches organising street carolling. That is the most. When midnight came, which marks the arrival of Christmas. I didnt hear cheers nor did I see any countdown. Disappointed I went back to the hotel.
Christmas day felt like any other day just that I had to wake up early in the morning, with no presents to unwrap, we left the hotel on yet another day of tour...
But to be honest, the tour wasnt that bad, we had Disney Land which felt the most "Christmas-sy".
Besides that, since China's mainland is rather close, we took the train to ShenZhen, a province of China which is very well planned and has been developed well. I think that place was ok. Luckily, I didnt encounter any bad things that I have heard off, but you still have to have your guard up even if it didnt happen to you. Cheats and all. Frankly, the people there are very rude, China man steps on you, push you aside when they wanna pass, and never apologise. Even if the persons job is to give you service like the reception, they still use an impolite verbal way to talk to you.
But all in all, it was worth as a family trip!
