Just recently, a vision was introduced to school, the aim of it is to turn the school into a World Class School by the year 2010 and this vision is called "The School's Mission".My school is quite old and is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, only last week was a series of great events, exhibitions, musical concerts....I think just because they want to become a World Class School or just to impress the old boys. (Honestly, my school is very well linked to the world and can be counted quite prestigious, it has produced much respectable people across the globe). Some of them coming from mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand, UK, US, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and so on. The school has a good reputation but I'm not sure if can survive my generation. HAHA
A series of project has been completed, some started as early as last year. To date, I'm proud of one thing our school owns, that is the astronomy's observatory deck, which has a simple but nice dome and world class telescope which can see starts, sun spots etc. How many high schools in the world owns one, I know its the only high school in Malaysia that has such a gadget.
The next thing that has been recently added to the 25 hector school compound is an enclosed basketball court which was completed late last year. This means we can still play even when it is raining. Now thats useful!
But the biggest change was to the main toilet and canteen.
The main toilet has always been the same since my grandfather's time, so imagine how old and stinky it has been. There are many other toilets in the school, but this has always been the biggest but the stinkiest and dirtiest! Someone could have suffocated and died in there anyday. Soon the school found the problem to that, the drainage system around the toilet doesnt work so well, so the pee actually soaks into the soil outside the toilet making it smell all around. All this ended up with a new toilet which now has better "plumbing system". But its not of world class standards yet LOL. It use to be a real "antique"!
Our canteen moved from a normal cemented floor to a nicely tiled flooring all over. Even the usual metal tables and wooden benches that were old were replaced by, what some people calls it "Mc. Donald's Style Table". Actually its just a long plastic+wood table linked to a also plastic+wood bench which cant be moved and is all sealed to the floor. Now thats more like it. In works to beautify the school, a "Plasma or LCD" TV ( Please note the " ") are hung on the ceiling which can be watched by students while eating or waltz-ing in and out the canteen.
I know it kinda rocks... Truth is it aint that blur(jus that i'm taking it from a distance) and what you see is a documentary on the WWII! Neh it aint that. It's stupid, something so nice is used to publish the schools advertistments like who won what in what... and showing something about the school. What you see here is a black and white photo of our school main building back in mid 20th century.
They should play a movie or something and not this, I prefer National Geogrpahics than this at least it will be educational! Maybe later in the future they might use this for screenings.
ANYWAY, to reveal something, it aint a TV set. But a two-sided projecting glass screen which can be watched from both sides. This is how it looks like
This is a shot from the back... See the projector?? So its just some screen, hopely they link it to a movie playing device or cable tele! Put it to good use!
Thats all for now, by the time the year 2010 where the vision is to be achieve, I no longer am in this school. But I wish Chung Ling High School all the best althought its crumppling my style!
